Your child’s oral health is integral to their general health and well-being. And caring for your child’s smile is just as important as caring for your own. Even before they have teeth, parents must care for their childs’ mouths, including their gums and soft oral tissues. It’s also essential to bring your child to the dentist for routine oral health exams and professional dental cleans.

Casuarina Square Dental Care provides comprehensive children’s dental care to kids of all ages, from babies and toddlers to school-age children and teenagers. Our skilled and experienced dentist is gentle and compassionate and always puts your child’s safety and comfort first.

The Importance of Your Child’s Oral Health

Tooth decay is the most prominent disease among children, but it’s completely preventable and treatable. Untreated cavities can be painful and lead to infections, making it difficult to eat, speak, play, and learn. For example, children with poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades than children who have healthy smiles. Children with healthy teeth and gums are less likely to have tooth decay, gum disease and other oral conditions.

6 Tips for Kids' Oral Health at Home

Most babies get their first tooth around six months of age. We recommend starting these healthy dental habits now, so your child’s smile stays healthy and free of tooth decay:

  1. Clean your baby’s gums with a clean cloth twice daily, even if they don’t have any teeth yet.
  2. Clean your baby’s teeth twice each day when their teeth grow in.
  3. Teach your little one to brush and floss twice daily, in the morning and at night before bedtime.
  4. Protect your child’s teeth with fluoride treatments or the appropriate amount of fluoride toothpaste. But keep in mind too much fluoride can also damage their teeth.
  5. Feed your child healthy, low-sugar foods and drinks.
  6. Take your child to see the dentist for regular checkups and teeth cleaning.

Following these tips and the advice of your child’s dentist can help keep your little one’s oral health in excellent condition.
