Reasons to Choose Casuarina Square Dental Care for Your Dental Implants
Distinction
Dr Jean Cohen holds a Master Clinician in Implantology from Loma Linda, and he and his colleagues have been restoring smiles for more than two decades. When choosing to restore your smile with dental implants, we recommend doing your research and choosing a dental team with experience and distinction.
Travelling to distant locales for knock-off implants is strongly discouraged! Your implants are a lifetime investment in your smile and in your health, which is why trusting experts with proven skills and advanced technologies is so crucial.

CBCT
We also use 'digital volumetric tomography' (DVT), which allows us to provide precise placement of your dental implant.
The CBCT scan is a newer variety of x-ray examination. While the traditional x-ray produces a two-dimensional image, the CBCT allows for a three-dimensional image of your teeth, soft tissue, nerves and jaw. This gives your dentist a more accurate picture of your dental needs.
The cone-beam CT creates 3-D images of your mouth. CBCT cuts radiation exposure dramatically when compared to medical CT. Both forms are superior to the routine intraoral panoramic x-rays your dentist might take as they help with the following:
- Provide extremely accurate measurements of the shape and dimensions of the jaw and the sinuses, nasal cavity and nerve canal. This is invaluable for the precise placement of dental implants as well as measuring for oral appliances.
- Detect tumours and lesions in their earliest stages.
- Diagnose disorders of the airway that can be causing sleep disorders.
- Locate precisely where an infection is located in your tooth.
The CBCT scan is beneficial in situations such as root canal treatments, impacted teeth, dental implant planning and a wide variety of other procedures where precision is key. If a CBCT scan has been recommended for you, consider having a discussion with your dentist about how a scan could help your individual dental health and contribute to a more precise dental implant (or other) treatment and outcome.
