Implants
Dental implants are one of the most popular tooth replacement options that dentistry has to offer for patients who are struggling with one or more missing teeth. This is because they protect your oral health by restoring both the root and the missing tooth. There is no other treatment that offers both benefits. They can also support prosthetics designed to replace multiple missing teeth, such as dental bridges or dentures.
Dental Implant Process
A titanium post replaces the root by being implanted into the jawbone during surgery. After a healing period that allows it to integrate with the jawbone, it is ready to support a new tooth, which is a customised porcelain crown designed to closely mimic the appearance of natural teeth in both form and function.
Dr. Cohen is able to complete the surgical portion of your implant treatment, which means that all the required dental implant appointments will take place at Casuarina Square Dental Care. Patients appreciate the fact that they will be working with the team they already know and trust, instead of being referred elsewhere for treatment.

How Long Will My Dental Implants Last?
The longevity of a dental implant relies on regular upkeep and diligence in keeping up with oral health. Some practices that allow patients to get the most out of their dental implant procedures include:
- Regular visits to the dentist
- Daily cleaning
- Lifestyle choices (types of food and beverages consumed or smoking play a role in dental implant efficacy)

Safety is your dentist’s primary concern in any procedure you undergo while in their care. While the X-ray exposure during the CBCT scan is higher than traditional X-ray examinations, your dentist will only advise and carry out this scan if it is deemed appropriate for your specific dental needs. A “medical” CT scan would have considerably higher exposure to X-rays making the CBCT scan a safer alternative.
Speak With Your Casuarina Dentist
It is advised that you discuss any concerns about a procedure or your condition with your Darwin dentist. They will be your best resource for explaining your situation and their safety protocols. If you have been referred to a different medical facility you should feel free to ask any questions about what is being done and why before you go into your appointment.
A CBCT scan is a relatively quick procedure, lasting only a few minutes. Your Darwin dentist will suggest you allocate at least twenty minutes for set up, scan and viewing the images. To prepare for your scan you will need to remove any facial jewelry, piercings, or dentures. It is recommended this is done prior to your appointment to save time during the procedure.
During the scan you will be carefully positioned by the operator and will need to remain still throughout the procedure. The CBCT will move in a circular motion while completing the scan, but will not come into contact with you.
After The CBCT Scan At Casuarina Square Dental Care
Your dentist will need you to stay after the procedure until the images have been inspected to ensure quality. Once they are ready, the examination will yield three-dimensional images of the “volume” of your face. The volume will vary depending on your dental needs and will help your dentist develop a personal treatment plan.
